Harp seal can stay underwater without breathing for about fifteen minutes.

After mating, females gather in groups to give birth. When young ones are born on ice, the mothers identify their own offspring by their smell.

They are killed in large numbers for their snowy white coats.

Average life span of harp seals in the wild is 30 years. They are about 5.25 to 6.25 ft long and weigh around 180 kg.

They are also known as saddleback seal. It is native to the northernmost Atlantic Ocean and adjacent parts of the Arctic Ocean.
