Facts about Argonauta cornuta
Argonauta cornuta is considered one of the rarest of the Argonauta species. As obvious from the name, this octopus belongs to the genus Argonauta. It is a species of pelagic octopus. They pelagic octopus live in pelagic zone which means neither they live near the shore of the ocean, nor in the deep water. The length of their shell is normally about 80 mm, however it can exceed 90 mm in some specimens and the world record size is 98.6 mm. It is considered one of the rarest Argonuta species and seems to have a relatively limited distribution. It looks like they are confined to the waters surrounding Western Mexico and Baja California. |
