Facts about Blind Sharks

 

 

Blind Sharks or Brachaelurus waddi live in Northern and Eastern Atlantic.

It got it name "Blind Shark" from its habbit of closing its eyes when caught.

Its average size is 4.5 feet.

Blind Shark's average life span is 25 years.

It has 5-7 gills.

Blind sharks are nocturnal. They rest in caves, ledges or sheltered crevices during the day and feed on various invertebrates such as crabs and shells as well as small fish at night. Blind sharks are often found in heavy surge zones where rock fishermen occasionally land a specimen.

It feeds on invertebrates and small fishes at night.

It has two dorsal fins that are close together and located well back on the body. The small anal fin of the blind shark is located just before the long caudal fin.
