Facts about lions

Lion is the only animal who dont have any predators.

Amongst all the living beings on Earth, lion is the only one who has hair on its neck and no one knows the reason yet.

A male lion's roar can be heard up to 5 miles away.

The largest lion on record was almost 11 feet long and weighed nearly 700 pounds.

Zoo lions may live up to 25 years, while wild lions live about 15 years.

Using their keen sense of smell, lions can tell if prey is nearby and even how long ago it was in the area.

Lions were once thought to magical creatures and were worshipped as gods.

Lions are the most social of all the cats, living in groups called "prides." There can be up to 40 members in a pride with over half of them being cubs and young adults.

A male coalition rarely holds onto a pride longer than two to three years before being run off by fierce challengers.

Tigers are lions' closest relatives. Without their coats, lion and tiger bodies are so similar that only experts can tell them apart.
